New Zealand has had resident representation in Hong Kong since 1960. The Consulate-General and other New Zealand agencies carry out the business in Hong Kong of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Immigration New Zealand, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, Investment New Zealand and New Zealand Customs Service. The Consulate-General staff further includes representatives of the New Zealand Police, accredited on a non-resident basis from Bangkok.

We are working to promote New Zealand's economic and cultural links with Hong Kong, which is New Zealand's 12th largest market for merchandise trade as well as an important partner in education, tourism, aviation and other service sectors. The New Zealand-Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership - the first free trade agreement to be secured by a foreign country with Hong Kong - entered into force in 2011, and has since provided a valuable boost to New Zealand goods and services exports. Two-way trade is now worth nearly NZ$1.6 billion annually.
