僱主須向外傭支付不低於簽訂合約時規定最低工資的薪金。這項規定一方面可保障外傭免受剝削，另一方面亦可保障本地工人免與低薪海外工人競爭。政府在考慮了香港的整體經濟和就業情況後，決定自二零一七年九月三十日起，把外傭的規定最低工資調高100元，即由每月4,310元調整至4,410元。新的工資水平適用於所有在二零一七年九月三十日或以後簽署的僱傭合約。

The Administration regularly reviews the MAW for FDHs. Employers must pay FDHs a salary that is not less than the prevailing MAW at the time of signing the contract. This safeguards FDHs against exploitation on the one hand, and protects local workers from cheap overseas competition on the other. In the light of the general economic and employment situation in Hong Kong, the Administration has decided that, with effect from 30 September 2017, the MAW for FDHs should be increased by $100 from $4,310 to $4,410 per month. The new MAW applies to employment contracts signed on or after 30 September 2017.
